The flowers in purple and
red glittering in the air scatter here
and there
Titled as Forest City
More
than a thousand years ago, a king ordered
to plant hibiscus on the city wall and since then each year
during the blossom season Chengdu is
transformed into a giant garden covered
by a colourful brocade that extends 20 km
in length (四十里锦绣).

What a pleasant day and a
wonderful night in the courtyard that is
full of delight!
Famous
for Delicate Gardens
Despite
skyscrapers are erecting one after
another, Chengdu's aspiration is to turn
the metropolis into a garden city.

The young and beautiful,
like flowers blossom in full, but the
blossoms will fall, pretty soon.
Reputed for Ladies' Beauty
While
inhabitants in another nearby super
metropolitan Chongqing is full of life and
vigour, Chengdu is more feminine and its
ladies are renowned for their
unpretentious charme and natural pretty.

So let's take a brief
pause to appreciate life's moments
Celebrated for More
Teahouses
It
is said that only those who can give up
what others chase after will find time to
work on tasks that others don't have time
for.
With
a laid-back attitude, people in Chengdu
are proud themselves for knowing how to
enjoy what they have and to appreciate
what they have experienced. It is no
accident that Chengdu outnumbers Shanghai
in the number of teahouses while having
less than half the population.
